Electric Handpieces

There are basically two types of handpieces, air-driven and electric. Electric handpieces have more torque than air-driven due to the fact that a motor is spinning the bur as opposed to air. Although it functions just like an air driven handpiece, some dentists prefer these handpieces for its way of cutting into tooth structure and removing old restorations, as well as the tactile feedback while doing a procedure. As well, the electric handpiece does not make as much of the high pitch sound the regular air driven handpieces are known to make.
